Cisco Eos 2.8 Release Notes
14 December 2010
2.8.2
Fixed Bugs
The following bugs have been fixed in this patch release. You must upgrade your site to see bug fixes that affect Eos sites.
- 16839: Adding comments no longer causes the eos.log.clientEvent function to return a different articleType on first comment and re-commenting.
2.8.1
This patch contains the following enhancements and bug fixes.
Enhancements
Version 1.0 media players deprecated
Starting with 2.8.1, the 1.0 audio and video players are deprecated. You should use the version 2.0 media players instead. The following enhancements are part of this change:
- Any new site you create with starter sites uses the version 2 video player enabled by default.
- Video and audio modules now have the version 2 players enabled by default.
- When customizing media players, the version 2 player colors are displayed by default.
Consolidated media library
The media library is no longer divided between media that you uploaded, and the media library for your entire company. The My Library label has been replaced with the company name.
Fixed Bugs
The following bugs have been fixed in this patch release. You must upgrade your site to see bug fixes that affect Eos sites.
- 13719: In the administration application, the Team page now correctly lists members in descending order based on date added.
- 15698: Sites with versions that contain quotes can now create groups.
- 16439: Changing the name of site no longer affects existing member questions.
- 16406: When a member is deleted from a site with content moderation enabled, any content from that member that is pending approval is deleted.
New Features
Search Member Information
The member search feature lets you quickly find information about members on a site. You can search member display names, email addresses, about me pages, and profile questions.
Enhancements to eos.log.clientEvent function
- Support of buy and share activities on various listing pages, including blogs, discussions, and events.
- New target key/value pair. When the action is buy or share, the target value is the name of the service or mechanism through which the content was shared (such as facebook).
- New reason key/value pair. When the action is flag, the reason value is the reason that content was flagged.
Robots.txt file
All site versions now have this file. You can edit this file for various purposes, including discouraging web robots from traversing selected portions of your site.
Link to custom CSS files in <head> section
Using the site ZIP file or WebDAV, you can create custom CSS files and edit the header.html file to make these styles visible on your site.
RSS description within table
You can control whether to place a table around the RSS feed's description field.
Configure description in video thumbnail module
You can control whether to include the video description in the video thumbnail module. By default it is not shown.
Add page title module to pages
When customizing modules, you can add the page title module to a page.
Fixed Bugs
The following bugs have been fixed in this release. You must upgrade your site to see bug fixes that affect Eos sites.
- 11163: When uploading a file to a site, the description is limited to 1000 characters. If you exceed this limit, the Save button is disabled.
- 11190: URL redirects are now case-insensitive.
- 13776: If a module contains a link to a nonexistent asset (such as a photo), other assets are properly displayed.
- 15336: When a registered Eos user attempts to join a new site, and clicks the Back button instead of completing the registration, an error no longer occurs.
- 15544: On sites using a custom domain name, email now has the correct sender email address.
- 15545: For sites that use a custom URL with a path, the class name of the active navigation tab is now properly updated.
- 16067: After a member disables Facebook Connect using the Edit Account page, the Disable Facebook Connect link is no longer displayed.
Known Issues
- 5460: In the administration application, a user without permissions for any media folders can still upload files with no folder selected. The user cannot access that media file after it is uploaded.
- 6125: If you flag a profile, and then flag a comment on that member detail page, the comment uses the same category that was used when flagging the profile.
- 7436: When a professional member is deleted from a site, all of the member's discussions and media are deleted from the site. However, blog entries are not deleted and the deleted member can still create new blog entries.
- 8522: When site members attempt to change their email address for their account to an email that is associated with another Eos account, an error message is not displayed. However, the email address is not changed and the old email address is displayed.
- 8537: When the album listing module is set to display a specific album, the count in the module displays the total number of albums on the site.
- 8785: You cannot resize videos that you have shared to a site blog entry.
- 10214: In the audio playlist module, clicking a buy link for a track also makes the player play the song.
- 11163: When uploading a file to a site, if a member enters more than 1000 characters for the description before uploading a file, the member cannot upload a file until he or she makes the description shorter or refreshes the page.
- 11211: On the member detail page, the category filter for the discussions module does not work. Discussions in all categories are always displayed.
- 11251: When viewing the media library from the site content, you cannot sort the media items by title or by the added date.
- 11678: If you create a site that has the same name as another site, and that other site has a custom domain, the error message you receive is "Your site name or URL is invalid". The real error is that the site name already exists.
- 11872: Answers are not saved when a member attempts to answer optional, private member questions that are multiple choice or single choice by not selecting any choices on the Edit Account page.
- 12061: For a site that is not upgraded, if you configure a module that has lists of items, such as a feature module, your configuration is not saved. To work around this problem, upgrade your site before changing the configuration of modules.
- 12160: The categories module always shows the total number of events in each category, regardless of the events being upcoming or past. So, if you configure an events module to show only upcoming or only past events, the number of events in each category as listed in the categories module will not always match the number of events displayed in the events module.
- 12228: If you enter a very long title for a module without spaces, the administration application will not display the module information properly, and you cannot delete or configure the module.
- 12285: In Safari, the administration application does not display the icon image for custom modules.
- 12419: The community/member API does not work, and instead always returns a 401 code.
- 12607: Logging into the administration application and front-end sites simultaneously can result in a cookie collision that logs you out of both the admin application and the front-end sites.
- 12674: In the administration application, the audio player does not display the correct duration of audio tracks.
- 12870: IE 8 gives a security warning when a user browses the admin application due to content that is not served over HTTPS.
- 13214: When you add a module that has category filtering, such a photo thumbnail module, to a community page for a group, you must configure the module in the administration application, even if you do not make any changes, for the module to display content on the page.
- 13555: Editing an existing event automatically changes the event time to 12 hours earlier.
- 13367: Sometimes after creating an event, the event is not listed in the administration application. Refresh the Events page to see the newly created event.
- 13733: In the blog entry module, the previous and next links go to entries based on the creation date and not the posted date, and so if the posted date has been edited to be different from the creation date, the entries are not in the correct order.
- 14061: When you migrate the same photo to two different categories, the photo only migrates to the first category.
- 14327: YouTube videos are not listed in RSS feeds.
- 14365: If you edit (using the site ZIP file) a module that is required by Eos and cannot be deleted (such as the video player), and then save this as a new module, you cannot delete the new module.
- 14504: When the discussions entry listing module is configured for "Most recently replied to", the replies are not sorted correctly.
- 14507: When you filter in the photo thumbnail module by most viewed and a specific category, the results are not in the proper order. To display photos by most viewed, do not specify a category.
- 14508: When you filter in the video thumbnail module by most viewed and a specific category, the results are not in the proper order. To display videos by most viewed, do not specify a category.
- 14520: You cannot change the paths of two pages at the same time if one of the changed path names is the same as the original path of the other. To work around this problem, change the name of one path, save the changes, and then change the path of the other.
- 14688: The default text, and not the customized text labels for the I'm Going/I Went buttons for events, are for those actions in the site activity RSS feed.
- 14790: When deleting a comment associated with a photo or video, the confirmation dialog incorrectly asks "Are you sure you want to delete this video/photo?". Only the comment, not the photo or video, is deleted in this case.
- 14913: Changes made to HTML templates using WebDAV sometimes do not appear on the site.
- 14977: When editing blogs and discussions with the TinyMCE editor, note the following when creating links to external sites. After clicking in Insert/edit and specifying a Link URL, a popup asks if you want to add a http:// prefix. If you click Cancel, the link URL from TinyMCE is appended in the URL path of the blog or discussion, which creates an invalid URL. Click on Insert/edit again to edit this URL.
- 14986: When automatic hyperlinking is disabled, hyperlinks are still created in blog summaries. Turning off automatic hyperlinking does work for blog detail pages.
- 14994: In comments, adding a URL with non-English characters (for example, Ø), creates an invalid URL.
- 15144: In RSS feeds, the publish dates for certain items (including, blogs, discussions, and photos) are modified after the posting date.
- 15220: When a member is deleted, discussions can still show a Last reply time by that member.
- 15450: When using Internet Explorer 7 or 8, in the Media Insights section of the site content detail pages, sometimes the sparkline pie charts for sources and shares do not display. To see these charts, click on the label name or navigate by using the carousel arrows (< >).
- 15536: When measuring media, if a metric (such as number of shares) has "N/A" for a media item, then sorting is not in the expected order. For example, for ascending sorting the "N/A" results appear first.
- 15544: On sites using a custom domain name, email uses an incorrect sender email address.
- 15586: When measuring media, the average rating includes multiple ratings by a single member instead of only the most recent rating by a member.
- 15587: When measuring media, the data used to render the comment "All data" chart and sparklines in the media detail page may not be accurate for assets that were added before 28 May 2010.
- 15588: In Internet Explorer 7, you cannot upgrade custom modules.
- 15728: Using Facebook Connect, photos posted for events do not appear on your Facebook wall.
- 15762: When customizing the Media Player Version 2.0 Colors in the administration application, the colors that the media player uses are slightly different than what you choose for Rollover tint for buttons and Bevel hilight for buttons.
- 16223: Using Internet Explorer and Safari, images do not display within RSS feeds for audio and video.
- 16273: When restricting access to a page (with Settings, URL Redirects and Page Restrictions), if you define two restricted pages where the relative path only varies by case (such as /photo/ and /Photo/), the restrictions do not work correctly.
- 16538: For comments, the eos.log.clientEvent function returns missing or incorrect information for articleType, articleTitle, and articleId.
